A Prayer For This Day

Lord Jesus, Make my life a prayer to you, I want to do what you want me to.  No empty words and no white lies, no token prayers no compromise.  I want to shine the light you gave, through your Son you sent to save us, from ourselves and our despair; it comforts me to know you’re really there.
(Make My Life a Prayer to You - Keith Green)
Thank you, Lord for being patient and faithful to me.  I want to die, completely, to self and share you Lord Jesus with the world, yea to those who are lost.  For how shall they hear without a preacher?
I want to be a beacon of hope, of edification, to my brothers and sisters in you Lord Christ.
Alas, who might listen to a man so unworthy to carry the gospel?  Who would hear from a man such as me?  How dare you?  Who do you think you are?  The world, my family, “who knew me when and have seen me at my worst;” rail against me.  On whose authority do you say such a thing, they ask?
Are you holier than thou?  No!  Wretched, naked, poor, and blind was I.  But you oh God have revealed yourself through your Spirit, a man, a preacher, and the GOSPEL: which is the power of God unto salvation to all those who believe.   You have elected to show me a glimpse of your holiness and Like Isaiah, I am undone.
Where are the Spurgeons and the Ravenhills of today?  Is this to be me?  How prideful am I to consider such a thing?  Shall I with reckless abandonment follow this desire?  Is this a call to preach?
Do I step beyond your will, if such a thing is even possible?  Is this your will for me oh most Holy God?  I am not worthy.
Why now oh God, why not 20 years ago?  Yea’ you are the Sovereign.  Who am I to question?  Like Peter I cannot even watch and pray and yet outside of your word I am never content.
Is this the prayer of a mad man?
